Ramdev calls Congress members homosexuals

The yoga guru said that the Congress is supporting homosexuality and Section 377 as most of its members are gay.

The yoga guru said that the Congress is supporting homosexuality and Section 377 as most of its members are gay.

Last week, welcoming the Supreme Court's verdict holding consensual sex between adults of the same gender an offence, Ramdev said homosexuality is just a bad affliction and added that yoga can cure it.

"Homosexuality is not genetic. If our parents were homosexuals, then we would not have been born. So it's unnatural," Ramdev said.

He further invited the gay community to his yoga ashram, saying, "I guarantee to cure them of homosexuality."

He also questioned the contribution of the gay community to streams like science and economics and said that he would pray that all the journalists present at the press conference would not 'turn' into homosexuals.

This came after the Apex Court reinstated  ban on gay sex in India, following a four-year period of decriminalisation that had helped bring homosexuality out into the open.

In 2009, the Delhi High Court ruled unconstitutional a section of the Indian Penal Code dating back to 1860 that prohibits "carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal" and lifted the ban for consenting adults.

The Supreme Court threw out that decision, saying only Parliament could change Section 377 of the IPC, widely interpreted to refer to homosexuality. Violation of the law can be punished with 10 years to life in jail.

The move shocked rights activists around the world, who had expected the court simply to rubber-stamp the earlier ruling. In recent years, India's Supreme Court has made progressive rulings on several issues such as prisoners' rights and child labour.

Meanwhile, Ramdev also targeted the Aam Aadmi Party and its election symbol saying that Parliament also requires two or three sweepers.

Abhishek Bachchan: Dhoom is my film and I am the hero

abishek bachchan as jai in dhoom 3
Abishek bachchan as jai in dhoom 3

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who has been a constant feature in the Dhoom series, says he is the hero of the film which could not have been made without him and co-star Uday Chopra.

In the third installment of the Dhoom series, Abhishek and Uday are reprising their roles as Jai Dixit and Ali Akbar, respectively, while actors Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif form the antagonist duo.

"Dhoom is my film and I am the hero. Nobody can take that away from me. You can be the biggest or the smallest star but Dhoom is about Jai and Ali. It is as simple as that. If the characters of Jai and Ali are not there in Dhoom, the film won't be there," Abhishek said.

There were reports that Abhishek was not happy with the way the film was being promoted.

"You should ask the people who decide the marketing strategy which evidently isn't me. It is my film and wherever they ask me to come I will. Obviously, I want to stand by it. If they feel there are certain events where they don't want me to be around, what can I do about that. Do I feel bad for it? No, I don't give attention to these things," he said.

Aamir Khan, who plays the baddie in Dhoom: 3, seems to have been following the mantra of less is more as far as promotions are concerned. And Abhishek agrees with it considering 'Dhoom' is a popular franchise in itself.

"I think it matters from case to case. In a film like Dhoom, I think it doesn't need any stars. It doesn't need Aamir, me and Uday. Dhoom has become a franchise in itself, you can have newcomers and it will do great," Abhishek said.

Abhishek said Dhoom has become a brand in itself and there is no need to go out and promote the film aggressively.

With the focus this time more on Aamir, Junior Bachchan does not feel sidelined, as he is a constant feature in the film.

"Why should I feel sidelined? I am in the film, you can't take me out. The audience doesn't care whose film it is. Till date, one of the greatest film was Amar Akbar Anthony where you had all the big heroes - dad, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor and others. It was everybody's film," Abhishek said.

Walking down memory lane, Abhishek said Dhoom was his first successful film and he made some wonderful friends.

"When we started Dhoom nobody thought it will be this monster that it is today. At that time, we were trying something new. I remember that time Adi saying to redefine the action genre, let's make it cool and make something young, have bikes and nice songs. Nobody knew that it is going to have a sequel. It has always been fun to be working on this franchise," the actor said.

When his attention was drawn to Uday Chopra's comment that Dhoom: 3 would be his last film as an actor, Abhishek said he will convince his actor friend if the fourth part in this hit franchise were to be made.

"Uday had stopped acting since quite some time. It was in 2010 when he took the decision to move to LA and become producer. He has just come here to do Dhoom: 3 because the character Ali is close to his heart. If Dhoom 4 happens, I will get him to do it," Abhishek added.

How to be intelligent person?

A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, “This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.”

The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?” The boy takes the quarters and leaves.

“What did I tell you?” said the barber. “That kid never learns!”

Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store.

“Hey, son! May I ask you a question?

Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?”

The boy licked his cone and replied,

“Because the day I take the dollar, the game is over!”

Not Shah Rukh, Deepika Padukone catches up with Salman Khan this time

In By Unknown / 11:23
Even though Deepika Padukone is riding high on success these days, she's still pretty grounded considering she kept all ego hassles aside and took the time out to catch up with her industry senior and Bollywood's other reigning Khan, Salman Khan.

What happened was that Deepika was shooting at Mehboob studio for her upcoming film 'Happy New Year', that incidentally stars Shah Rukh Khan as the leading male. On the other side of the fence, rather on another set in the same studio, Salman Khan, too, was shooting for an advertisement.
deepika padukone and salman khan together

Now it's quite the norm, and good neighbourly conduct, might we add, for film stars to pop in to meet each other on their sets if they happen to be at the same studio. Unless they're Shah Rukh and Salman. While the two Khans didn't extend that courtesy to each other, Salman's sister Alvira and brother Sohail Khan first dropped in on the sets of Happy New Year, followed by the ever gracious Deepika who then dropped in on Salman's set to catch up with him. This was while Salman was on a tea break and sitting outside his van. They reportedly chatted for at least a half hour.

This move on Deepika's part makes sense considering she stars opposite the 'Dabangg' star in Sooraj Bharjatya's 'Bade Bhaiya'.

Interestingly, new reports claims that Salman has really been praising Deepika a lot these, even though he hasn't seen her latest hit 'Ram-Leela'.

Movie review: Bullett Raja delivers what it promises

In By Unknown / 11:17

It's not over-the-top like Dabangg. It's not puerile like Rowdy Rathore. Saif Ali Khan has no gimmicky lines like aata majhi satkali in Singham. In a special dance number Mahie Gill does not let hang lose everything there is, just to woo front benchers. Bullet Raja attempts to reach out to large numbers just like the above mentioned 100-crore earners. Yet, in its quest to grab more eyeballs director Tigmanshu Dhulia's film does not sacrifice a certain essence that you have come to associate with his recent films (Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Paan Singh Tomar, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns). The result is a des-chic, guns and gore affair, set against the backdrop of conniving UP politics and mafia.

Bullet Raja follows the trajectory of a simple, unemployed, Brahmin man Raja Mishra (Saif Ali Khan), who is almost about to take up a job in a hotel that asks him if he has a hotel management degree. A series of untoward incidents in his life forces him to take the law in his own hands. Soon the simple youth transforms into a dreaded UP gangster, who lives life by his own rules. In the course of things he proves to be a loyal friend to Jimmy Shergill and his heart beats like never before for the 156th girl (Sonakshi Sinha) he meets. In his rise to power he is supported by a local politician (Raj Babbar) who ultimately wants to get rid of him. Sadly, Raja loses his dear friend which leads him to vent, "Bhai mara hai hamara, badla lena parampara hai. Koi corporate culture nahin hai ki agli deal mein adjust kar lenge."

In the battle to avenge his friend's death the film travels from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai to Kolkata. The production design is such that it captures authentic milieu and details of all the three places, keeping it real at all times. The background score by Sajid-Wajid succeeds in producing the intended result at various junctures in the film. The action sequences are well-choreographed and thankfully it's mostly kept real.

The writing is sharp, the scenes are well-constructed and the dialogue is superb without being overtly bombastic. Sample Saif saying, "Maa ne kaha tha beta kisi ka dil na thodna. Toh humne dil ko chodke sab kuch thoda". On another occasion when Jimmy meets Saif for the first time in a wedding function at his house, he breaks the ice with Saif by asking him, "Halka paani (sherbet) peeyengey ya kuch bhadkila (alcohol) pasand karengey?" Or even when Saif mouths a line like "Brahmin bhookha to Sudama, rootha toh Ravan". A simple line which easily indicates the storm that will, in due course of time, hit the small town. Sajid-Wajid's music though not extra-ordinary fits in seamlessly into the texture of the film. Be it an item number that takes place in UP or the romantic track that occurs on the tram in Kolkata.

Dhulia unveils a narrative over which he has remarkable control. He captures the political-industrial nexus with necessary economy of scenes. He depicts the procession scenes, the market place or the ghat scenes with a disarming honesty for the real. Watch out for the excellently devised earthy kabbadi scene of Ravi Kissen in a mini-amphitheatre kind of indoor location. At the same time he imbues his lead protagonist with a rustic panache which is in contrast to the uber cool, urban image Saif has, by and large, had in most films. However, the Chambal dacoit scene seemed hurried. While it serves the purpose of introducing Vidyut Jamwal's character, the guy who played the chief dacoit does not strike you as somebody tough-violent to deal with. He comes across as a mouse, dreaming of Bipasha Basu with only four henchmen around him.

To his credit Saif does justice to his role, bringing to it a vital spark and zest that flows so effortlessly. Sonakshi Sinha in a brief role does what is required for the part. She particularly impresses you with the Kolkata portions of her part. Particular mention has to be made of Vidyut Jamwal who demands your attention with his screen presence in the second half. His stunts, designed by himself are brilliantly executed. Both Gulshan Grover and Ravi Kissen impress in their small but effective roles.

Bullet Raja's slogan claims "aayenge toh garmi badyaenge." To the film's credit it delivers what it promises.

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai has been living in the Bachchan mansion ever since her marriage to husband and co-star Abhishek Bachchan in April 2007. But now buzz is that the Bachchan 'bahu' is not too happy with the arrangements.
According to reports doing the rounds, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is keen to move out and live separately with her daughter Aaradhya and husband Abhishek.
Apparently, there seems to be a bit of friction between Aishwarya Rai and mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan, who is said to be keeping a tab on her activities. Reports further suggest that Jaya Bachchan is believed to be constantly interfering with her private life.
Reportedly, Jaya Bachchan expects her daughter-in-law to update her on all matters including professional, which isn't quite appreciated by Aishwarya Rai.
However, the duo have always looked extremely comfortable in each others presence whenever they've been spotted in public. We hope they sort their differences and these reports are just a mere rumour.
Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek and daughter Aaradhya recently returned from a family holiday in Dubai. They were accompanied by Aishwarya's parents, her brother and her sister-in-law.
